The Cybele Story

Our story started in Kerala, when an old monk gave a young man a bundle of palm-leaf manuscripts filled with centuries-old Ayurvedic wisdom and a unique formula for diabetes.
That young man was P.N.E. Balaram. He understood that what he received that day was a great responsibility.
A Discovery That Sparked a Mission
The manuscripts contained many herbal formulas for lifestyle disorders, including a powerful diabetes formulation, written before the disease even had a name. Balaram felt a deep urge to develop these remedies.
Balaram dedicated years to studying, gathering herbs, and testing each formula. Ancient knowledge soon found its place in the present, as those who tried the remedy reported feeling healthier and more empowered.
The turning point came one evening. While talking with friends, one of them shared his worry — his father’s diabetes was getting worse, even though they had tried every medicine. Their family felt helpless. Just days before, Balaram had finished the first batch of the ancient formula he had decoded. He quietly gave his friend a few tablets, hoping they would help. A week later, the friend came back, happy and asking for more tablets. His father’s blood sugar had finally dropped, and he felt better than he had in years. That moment changed everything. It showed that the ayurvedic formula could really help people and inspired the mission that became Cybele.
Balaram held more than tradition in his hands. It also meant progress and hope.

The Breakthrough: Cogent DB
The ayurvedic formula from the manuscripts became our main focus and is now called Cogent DB.
This was more than just another herbal supplement. Doctors and scientists observed that Cogent DB supported metabolic health and offered real benefits for people with diabetes.

After signing with a major pharmaceutical company, Balaram and his team dreamed of taking Cogent to the world. Then, one quiet afternoon, he received a call that changed everything. The company had taken full rights and decided to keep the product off the shelves. No launch. No patients. No future for the ayurvedic formula he had dedicated his life to.
The news left him heartbroken, but it also awakened a deep resolve. Instead of giving up, he rebuilt his mission. From that moment grew PNB Vesper Life Science Pvt. Ltd., now a leader in India’s biopharmaceutical research.
A large pharmaceutical company bought the rights to the product. But instead of launching Cogent DB across India as expected, they decided not to release it, so patients could not access it.
This was not because it lacked scientific support.

The real reason was that Cogent DB offered something rare in diabetes care. It focused on long-term results instead of ongoing dependence.

A product that helped patients rely less on lifelong medication did not fit the usual pharmaceutical business models at the time, which focused on products needing regular prescriptions. For years, people in India could not access this part of their heritage. This experience shaped us as a company.
